FERST FOUNDATION FOR CHILDHOOD LITERACY OF CARROLL COUNTY

It was the kind heart and gorgeous interior photography from our first interior design client, Karen Hartley, that inspired us to specialize in the design industry. Since Karen’s retirement from the design world, she has upped her commitment to help get books into the homes of children in her county. We donate in-kind to The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy of Carroll County to support this effort.

AIMEE COPELAND FOUNDATION

Our dear friend Aimee Copeland experienced an accident in 2013 that resulted in her becoming a quadruple amputee- she lost all 4 limbs to necrotizing fasciitis. Remarkably, she kept her spirit, and she inspires us with her positivity and capacity to find joy and meaning in life. The Aimee Copeland Foundation helps people of all abilities to shape meaningful, purposeful lives and find peace, strength and fulfillment beyond what they might have imagined.

NIÑOS DEL SOL

Our friend Avishai Pearlson and his wife are co-directors of the Niños del Sol children’s home in Peru where a group of children — all survivors of trauma, abuse and neglect — are being raised as a family. They nurture the children with life skills, open hearts, yoga/wellness practices, organic food from local farms and their own garden, and lots of love. We are honored to make a monthly contribution to help sustain their home.

THE ALPHA WORKSHOPS

When our CEO Ken Lewis presented at a design conference with interior designer Jamie Drake, Ken became familiar with Jamie’s support of The Alpha Workshops for which he acts as Chair. It is a nonprofit providing decorative arts education and employment to at-risk youths and adults with disabilities or other vulnerabilities. They proudly serve the LGBTQ, HIV+/AIDS, and ASD communities in NYC. We support this effort.

ONE TREE PLANTED

Client Expander is committed to being a responsible environmental steward. Our executive team exclusively works on solar power. For the carbon emissions that we have not managed to avoid, we have established a carbon offset program via the tree planting nonprofit One Tree Planted. We encourage environmentally aware peers to join our fundraising team as each dollar converts into one new tree helping to clean our air.

HANDS ON HELPING

Since 2004, our trusted friend Ryan Anderson has been passionately supporting orphans with education, scholarships, job skills training, internships, health care, and community. His organization Hands on Helping works in poor Asian countries including Cambodia and Nepal. From opening libraries to running a community classroom, they use education to open doors for children who have few options to succeed in life.
