The copyright in these photographs typically belongs to the photographer and/or the designer who commissioned the work. 3. Our Attribution Approach

Rather than pursuing legal remedies, Client Expander takes a cooperative, non-adversarial approach to image attribution. Our standard process involves:

• Identification: We monitor for instances where our clients’ professional photography appears online without proper credit
• Verification: Every identified match is manually reviewed by a human coordinator before any outreach is initiated
• Outreach: We send a polite, professional email requesting that the publisher add a credit line with a link to the designer’s portfolio
• Resolution: We accept either the addition of proper attribution or the removal of the image as satisfactory resolution

4. What We Ask For

In most cases, our attribution request is straightforward:

• A visible text credit identifying the designer or design firm
• A clickable hyperlink to the designer’s portfolio or website
• Placement near the image or in a credits section of the page

We do not request payment, licensing fees, or retroactive compensation as part of our standard attribution outreach.

5. Fair Use Considerations

We recognize that the concept of “fair use” exists within copyright law and allows limited use of copyrighted material under certain circumstances. Our attribution requests are not a determination of whether fair use applies in any specific case. Rather, we believe that proper attribution is a professional courtesy that benefits all parties, regardless of the legal analysis of any individual use.
